TWO MILLION EXPECTED TO QUIT SMOKING TODAY
More than two million smokers are set to quit for good today as
campaigners urged them to kick the habit ahead of smoking bans
across the UK.
Each year millions of smokers attempt to quit en masse spurred
on by the annual No Smoking Day health awareness campaign.
The charity behind the campaign said it hoped the number of
smokers giving up this year would be the biggest in its 24-year
history.
Smoke-free legislation comes into force in Wales on April 2, in
Northern Ireland on April 30 and in England on July 1. A ban has
been in place in Scotland for almost a year.
