STATEWIDE SMOKING BAN GIVES EVERYONE COVER
With a statewide smoking ban now close to becoming reality, the
job of local officials just got a lot easier.
"I guess there's no more need for my subcommittee," Kane County
Board member Gerry Jones, D-Aurora, said Wednesday at an
Executive Committee meeting.
Jones' subcommittee looked at banning smoking in public places
and came up with a ban for unincorporated areas that the County
Board would have had to vote on at a later date. That ban did
allow bars or private clubs to buy an exemption with a special
license.
