SMOKING BAN UNPOPULAR AT PV BARS
Smokers and some nonsmokers alike observed the final day of legal
smoking inside restaurants and bars in Arizona Monday by blasting
a statewide ban that voters approved in November.
"I think it is absolutely the (bar) owner's discretion,"
commented Victoria Carter, a Yavapai College accounting student
who enjoyed a Virginia Slims cigarette in the Jackass Bar &
Grill. "I voted that day" against Proposition 201, the
Smoke-Free Arizona Act. "I voted for smoking in bars."
Carter said she grew up in a bar atmosphere because her parents,
Ray and Sue, owned two bars in Tucson.
Several other bar patrons at Jackass and Augie's Place agreed.
