SMOKING BAN CHALLENGED
Barely six months into it, Colorado's statewide smoking ban is
facing numerous challenges in the Legislature, including one
bill that would allow the return of smoking in bars and
restaurants.
Senator Lois Tochtrop recently introduced a proposal that would
supersede all state and local ordinances that prohibit smoking
inside of establishments that are "licensed for the on-premises
consumption of alcohol." The bill is being heard in committee
today.
If passed, beginning Sept. 1, the bill would allow bars and
restaurants to purchase a special liquor license for $500 that
would allow smoking.
