NSW ANNOUNCES RECORD SMOKING DROP.
The New South Wales Government is claiming a win with a large
drop in the number of smokers in the state.
New figures show the number of daily or occasional smokers has
fallen from 20.1 per cent in 2005 to 17.7 per cent last year.
The Minister assisting the Minister for Health, Verity Firth,
has attributed the drop to the Government's anti-smoking
advertising campaign.
"We have never recorded such a dramatic drop in smoking rates in
a 12 month period," she said.
