MISSISSIPPI SENATE DEFEATS RESOLUTION FOR CIGARETTE TAX BILL
The Mississippi Senate has defeated a resolution that would've
allowed a new cigarette and grocery tax bill to be filed.
The vote on Tuesday was 31-to-20 for the resolution, but 34
votes were needed for it to pass.
A tax bill died last week when the Senate Finance Committee
chairman would not allow debate before a deadline. The
resolution, if passed by both houses, would have allowed a new
bill to be filed after the deadline.
