MID-STAGE NICOTINE VACCINE TRIAL MEETS MAIN GOAL
Nabi Biopharmaceuticals said a mid-stage trial of its vaccine
to treat nicotine addiction and prevent relapse met its main
goal of eight weeks of continuous abstinence.
Shares of the company rose about 14 percent to $5.85 in
afternoon trade on the Nasdaq, tapering off a bit after rising
as much as 19 percent earlier in the session.
The trial for NicVAX enrolled 301 heavy smokers who, on average,
smoked 24 cigarettes a day and not less than 15 cigarettes a day
before enrollment.
